2.1 Health Effects - Acute

Swallowed

May cause severe gastrointestinal tract irritation with nausea, vomiting and possible burns.

Eye

May cause eye irritation.

Skin

May cause severe skin irritation.

Inhaled

Irritation may lead to chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary oedema. May cause severe irritation of the respiratory tract with sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath and delayed lung oedema.

Swallowed

If voctim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention.

Eye

Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids. Get medical attention.

Skin

Get medical attention. Flush the skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.

Inhaled

Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention.

First Aid Facilities

Ensure an eye bath and safety shower are available and ready for use.

4.3 Spills and Disposal
